Get Financially Fit For The Holidays

There are so many things to account for during the holiday season: gifts for family, friends, and coworkers, preparing meals and carry-in specials, and staying on top of never-ending bills. To make this holiday season a success, start with these tips to keep your holiday spending in check.

  1. Start with a monthly budget. List out your normal monthly expenses and compare them to your income. Remember that the holidays are coming up and may affect your pay, so adjust accordingly.

Also, keep in mind that you may not need to make a payment on certain loans in December, giving your wallet extra wiggle room. As a Partners 1st member, some qualifying loans get automatically advanced as part of our December Skip-A-Pay program. If you have questions, visit your branch.

  1. Create a holiday budget. When you are feeling generous, it can be easy to overspend. So, once you allocate a holiday budget, start breaking it down. List how much you plan to spend on family, friends, and coworkers. Each person should have a dedicated amount. Then, stick to your budget when you go shopping. Don’t forget any holiday gift exchanges as well!
  2. Look for ways to save now. If you are reading this in October, then start saving in October. Holiday shopping and festivities add up fast, so it is best to already have some money set aside in a separate account, like our Christmas Club – where you earn higher dividends than a standard savings account!
  3. Find low-cost gifts. Instead of buying the latest and greatest gear, try finding unique treasures at thrift stores or getting handy with materials around your home. The best gifts are the ones from the heart.
  4. Pick up a seasonal job. With extra shopping on the horizon, retail stores get into a hiring frenzy to ensure they are fully staffed. This is the perfect time to earn a bit more cash before the holidays are in full force.

If you are still struggling to keep up with bills, holiday shopping, and other expenses, then don’t forget about our Holiday Helper loan – available starting in November. This personal loan gives you the boost you need to enjoy the holidays with less financial stress.

Chaity Walk
Walking For Suicide Awareness

From Indiana to Virginia, several of our staff and their family and friends joined the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Out of the Darkness Charity Walks to raise funds and advocate for mental health and suicide awareness. This was an opportunity for our teams to walk side-by-side and support each other in our communities and honor the memory of those we have lost.

Keep Your Accounts Secure

Holiday online shopping is almost here. While you cash in on Black Friday sales and holiday deals, make sure you practice cybersecurity safety to protect your account. Scammers take advantage of the season’s generosity and try to compromise accounts however they can. So, stay vigilant and learn how to keep your account secure.

Caught Us At Chalk Walk?

Fort Wayne, IN – In July, we continued our annual sponsorship of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art’s Chalk Walk. We worked hard to keep everyone hydrated under the hot sun and took over this year’s Activity Tent - providing an opportunity for children to decorate their own “chalk walk square.”
