Beyond The Transaction Member Newsletter - Summer 2023
On June 12th, we announced via email that we’ve been undergoing a computer system upgrade for the past year and reached the halfway point. We can happily report that the project is still on track.
The computer system upgrade intermingles with every transaction and customer experience interaction we have. In a word, it’s the core of everything we do. Having a robust computer system enables us to streamline operations and improve the overall functionality for an enhanced user experience.
During our journey to this new system, you will hear about some of the integrations and features that will eventually be released for your enjoyment. Some upgrades will impact our staff greatly, improving and simplifying processes, so they have more time to focus on you and your needs.
We’re excited to upgrade to this new system that will benefit everyone, and hope everyone appreciates the value it brings. As we continue to improve, we look forward to sharing more about the technological advancements our new system brings.
In June, we launched a secondary website that’s all about U. At Partners 1st, we believe it’s important for everyone to know how to access all the savings, spending, and borrowing opportunities you need to succeed, and this tool brings you the knowledge you need to know about your finances.
When you go to itsaboutu.org, you can find the answers to:
- What is a Credit Union?
- Who can Join?
- How do you buy a House?
- How do you open a Savings Account?
- What Credit Card fits your needs?
Through financial literacy classes and weekly posted blogs, this website’s goal is to be the Financial Education Center you need to learn the ins and outs about your money.
This website is an extension of Partners 1st Federal Credit Union. It serves as an educational resource for all credit unions.
Each year, Partners 1st awards up to $15,000 total in scholarships for qualified, higher-education seekers. This year, we had an extraordinary amount of applicants who are in pursuit of educational advancement. We’d like to congratulate the recipients of the Charles M. Cook Scholarship!
The Nominating Committee is now considering members who are willing to serve as volunteers for the Board of Directors, Associate Directors, or for a committee. Any member who wishes to be considered should call or email VP of Human Resources Kelly Johns.
All respondents will be sent an informational packet that contains a description of duties and responsibilities and an application for nomination. Note that even though meetings take place in Fort Wayne, IN, there is an existing travel reimbursement policy in place with options to teleconference.
Nominations close at 5pm on October 13th, 2023. Anyone who wishes to petition for nomination after the deadline has until November 30th, 2023. All members who wish to become a candidate must collect 200 signatures. If a ballot process is required, the annual election of officers will be conducted by mail.

This April, our communities worked together to Spread the Love. This was our first-ever peanut butter and jelly-specific food drive and it was a hit! Our Fort Wayne branches donated 552 POUNDS of peanut butter and jelly for Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County, and our branches outside of Fort Wayne collected donations for their local pantries in their own communities. We’re grateful that our members and staff came together to make a difference. Thank you for Spreading the Love!
The Cambridge Branch in Maryland was named “Favorite Bank/Credit Union” for the second year in a row by their local newspaper. Being a Stars of the Banner winner is all thanks to the people in that community who choose Partners 1st as their financial partner. Congratulations to the branch and the members they serve!
