Change Is Changing
An Update on Pennies & Your Transactions
Have you noticed fewer pennies in your change recently? You’re not imagining it. With the U.S. Mint pausing penny production, many financial institutions can no longer order them from the Federal Reserve. To get ahead of this shortage and keep operations running smoothly, we will be handling pennies and change differently starting March 1, 2026.
What’s Changing
- We won’t be selling pennies to members or businesses by the roll or in large quantities anymore.
- We will provide exact change during transactions for as long as our supply lasts. At some point in the future, we will transition to automatically depositing change from transactions directly into member accounts.
Automatic Change Deposits
How many times have you found loose change in your couch, car, or dryer? With automatic change deposits, there will be less coins rattling around in your pocket and instead deposited into your member account.
Next time you deposit a check, you may only get cash back. Your change will automatically be deposited into your account. Automatic change deposits are a step toward simplifying everyday transactions and managing your change more easily. There are no loose coins to lose!
